It’s been a long journey from “overweight & overworked” to “blogger living my healthiest life ever.”
Three years ago, I was working four jobs. More of my adult life has been spent working 60 to 70-hour weeks than 40-hour weeks.
This experience of constantly being busy and feeling like I would never have time for myself has made me very good at time management. If the “me time” couldn’t be found easily, I had to make that time for myself.
How I Got Started
In my very first post, I gave some background on my first experience with significant weight loss.
I gained about 30 pounds when I went from working on my feet to working at a desk. Then, I dropped 40 pounds. That only happened when I made a commitment to take small steps every day in a healthier direction.
These small steps were obvious choices like eating healthier foods and walking. I also started reading more. I cut back on my TV time and my romance novels and got into personal development books.
That’s when I found the Miracle Morning, and took the whole thing to the next level.
Naming this Website
My blog has been through several different names at this point. I went from My Daily Miracle, to Amanda Stray to Healthy Motivated Life.
“My Daily Miracle” just never felt like it really encompassed my message. Since I was struggling to find a name I loved, I decided to make the website easier for my friends and family to find and changed it to my own name.
Then, I got really serious about blogging and began taking classes. Through my classes, I learned just how important a name is. And since I’m no celebrity, I determined that using my own name for the URL was probably not going to help new people find me.
So back to the drawing board I went.
My journey with health and fitness never would have started if I hadn’t learned to effectively manage my time. It certainly never would have come this far if I hadn’t learned to motivate myself (and connect with inspiring people to help!).
When I had a good list of words pertaining to my overall message, I put them together in different ways until I found something I loved:
HEALTHY MOTIVATED LIFE
It spoke to me. I strive every day to motivate myself and others to live a healthier life. This is the name that sums that up.
What I’m About
I started this blog as a way to share the tips and tricks I came across in my own journey toward health.
My friends and family had a lot of questions for me when they started seeing the results I was experiencing. Blogging about it seemed like the perfect way to help them out, too.
Once I started writing consistently, I found that the blog went in a different direction than I had originally pictured. I thought I’d be sharing tons of recipes, workouts and ideas for cutting calories.
What I find myself sharing the most, though, are tips for managing limited time so that the recipes & workouts have a space in your day. My biggest challenge in my journey hasn’t been finding new recipes or finding creative ways to build muscle.
My biggest challenge has been fitting healthy choices into a busy schedule.
Finding time to add health, fitness & nutrition into a day already packed with work, family and home responsibilities is tough!
It’s important for us to remember that we are not alone in this journey, and to stay motivated to keep going.
