I believe that there is no better way to set yourself up for success tomorrow than to prepare for it today. Preparing each night for the day ahead eliminates my excuses for not living my healthiest life.
There are 4 items I like to take care of each evening so I wake up the next morning feeling confident, and ready for the day ahead. All of these tasks can be tackled in 30 minutes or less.
At night before bed, I always fill my water bottle, set up my coffee pot on self-timer, pack my (previously prepared) lunch into my lunch box, and set out my clothes (both my workout clothes for our morning walk, and my work clothes).
When I do this, I can begin the next day on a positive note, feeling fully prepared for anything that comes my way.
Preparing Each Night for the Day Ahead, Step 1: Fill My Water Bottle
It’s a small feat, but drinking some water when I’m really tired helps me wake up. When that water is poured and ready-to-go, my morning runs that much more smoothly.
2. Use the Self Timer on the Coffee Pot
After a couple sips of water, I head to the kitchen for a nice, hot cup of coffee. Hot coffee that’s ready and waiting for me. Seriously, if your coffee pot doesn’t have the self-timer feature, it’s totally worth the investment. It’s like having a personal maid.
For real, it’s amazing and I’m grateful every day that I get to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee.
3. Pack my Lunch
Just like the water the bottle, it takes like, 30 seconds to grab my lunch and put it in my lunchbox. But, it’s one less thing to worry about in the morning.
Not having to think about my lunch at all means I can take my time starting my day. I complete my Miracle Morning (including 30-minute walk for some exercise) and I work on my website.
This also allows me to ensure that I have plenty of time to cook and enjoy my breakfast.
4. Set out My Clothes
I love picking out my clothing for the next day each night. This really shortens the time it takes to get ready for work.
I know that I get my hair and makeup done in 15 minutes. The part that always takes the longest is selecting my outfit. When it’s already set out, I don’t even have to think about it!
Worry-Free Morning
The mornings that I wake up to freshly-brewed coffee, a full water bottle, and clothing selected and laid out are my best mornings.
Taking time for preparing each night for the day ahead helps me to start each day off on a calm note. Give it a try for one week. See how preparedness can transform your life!
