My dog exudes personality. The only words I’ve ever been able to find to fully describe the huge individuality in that 20-pound little body are “Zest for Life.” This little guy is truly the happiest dog you’ll ever see. He has helped me through difficult times with his unwavering love and pure joy.
The “Zest for Life” that my dog exemplifies has taught me how I should strive to live my own life.
“It is in the compelling zest of high adventure and of victory, and in creative action, that man finds his supreme joys.” ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery
He Holds Me Accountable
As I’ve mentioned previously, he has been my greatest accountability partner through my journey with nutrition and fitness.
On weekend mornings, when Bentley wakes me up by jumping on me with excitement, I sometimes have to remind myself not to be frustrated with him. Instead, I am grateful. I am grateful for Bentley giving me these little reminders to live with zest for life.
He Wakes with Excitement for the Day
Bentley wakes up each morning full excitement for the day. Every morning, he knows that he is going to go for a walk, and nothing brings him more joy.
It doesn’t matter if it is cold and windy, like it was for our walk this morning. He hops right ahead with the same zest he would if it were a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
What if we could all tackle our work-outs the way Bentley does? Better yet, what if we all lived each day to the fullest like he does?
He Finds Joy and Zest for Life in Each Moment
Bentley has taught me to find joy in every waking moment. He has taught me that we should enjoy exercise just as much as we enjoy our down-time and that every meal is a blessing.
I’m not there yet, but I work every day, striving to show even half the joy that Bentley does on a regular basis. I hold myself accountable for these little moments of joy on Instagram and Facebook, and I hope you will join me!
